Egyptian Religion

In my research writing a book about tattoos I ended up reading this book by Sharon La Borde, who is a follower and worshipper of the ancient Egyptian gods and godesses. I confess that I was surprised to discover that there were people in the world who still worshipped these gods, but Egyptian (Kemetic) religion is part of a growing form of neo-paganism.

La Borde says that the number of Egyptian Pagans and Kemetics has more than doubled in the last decade (the book was originally published in 2010). She doesn't say what the base line number was, so I can't say how people that represents, but it's definitely true that there has been an explosion of interest in pagan religions recently and that most of this interest is coming from young people.

The book deals with Kemetic ethics and worldview, the Egyptian deities and their festivals, practical advice to build an altar to these gods and a look at some popular controversies.

I thought this was an interesting read, supplemented by watching the author on her Youtube channel.
