History of Tattooing

Wilfred Hambly wrote this revised classic on tattooing back in 1925. It was considered as an invaluable record of tattooing around the world at the time because of the changes the world was undergoing.

It deals w ith white photos, which I do not personally find very inspiring, but they are there. And there is a lot of information in this book.

It deals with religion, magic, and (to me most interestingly) the geographical distribution of tattooing worldwide. Tattooing was almost everywhere.

This is a must read if you want to understand the history of and geographical distribution of tattooing.
